This year Makom Shalom will once again live our commitment to helping those in need by collecting food for our friends at The Studios, the single room occupancy complex we support thorough our membership in Central City Housing Ventures (CCHV).

The Studios is a state of the art 160-unit low income housing complex.  The residents are a mix of low income wage earners students and senior citizens. Most of the residents work at least part time.  Because of the low pay most of the jobs provide and the seasonal nature of many of the jobs some of the residents sometimes need food on an emergency basis.

We will be collecting food at all four of our High Holiday Services. The staff of The Studios has asked that we bring staple items. Please bring canned protein such as tuna or salmon or canned stews.  If you are comfortable buying “treif” the residents especially like ham and spam. Canned soup, canned fruit, cereal and macaroni and cheese are also needed.
