The story of Chanukah is the miracle of starting again even after everything has been destroyed through adversity. This week's Torah portion is about a family rebuilding their relationship after conflict, years of estrangement, geographical distance and extreme change in fortunes. The moment when Joseph and his brothers meet again and start afresh is the beginning of the Hebrews' sojourn in the Land of Egypt. It is the beginning of our story as Jews. This week we celebrate Shabbat as we look forward to new beginnings.
