What's in a name? We are getting into the Book of Exodus, known in Hebrew as Shemot, The Book of Names. In this week's Torah portion, Va'era, God appears to the Hebrew slaves in Egypt with a new name, a new manifestation in the world. This new, divine name is what will carry the Israelites into freedom.

At this week's service we will talk about Hebrew names. If you know your Hebrew name(s), please share it. Like God and the Hebrew slaves it is customary in times of hardship to adopt an additional, new name. You can do that at this service. If you were never given a Hebrew name, this can be the start of the process of selecting one.
